Living with abuse?

Sometimes it can be hard to talk to someone about what is happening to you.

There are many types of abuse, physical, sexual, emotional and  psychological.

You do not deserve any of them and you have the right to get help and talk through how you are feeling.

There are many agencies which offer professional confidential services and who can offer support, maybe if you wish it advice as to how to take legal action.

The abuse maybe happening now, it may have happened in the recent past or it may have happened when you were a child.

Living with abuse can be very challenging. It can cause many distressing feelings which can have a huge impact on all areas of your life.

C.O.P.E. offer a service to support individuals who have been abused in the West Glasgow Community Planning area, however, there are many other services locally in your area.

Maybe in the first instance speak to your GP or local women’s aid centre.

If you do not live in the area we cover contact:

Breathing Space 0800 83 85 87

The Samaritans 08457 90 90 90

Childline 0800 1111

NHS 24 08454 242424

Womens Aid 0808 2000 247

Looking at this web page is the first step on a journey to get your life back.

Men too can be victims of abuse.

Sometimes it is harder to admit this and seek help but you deserve support too and there are agencies that work with men as well as women or work with men only. C.O.P.E. also supports men.

A journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step.

You have taken the first one, take that next step and phone and arrange to speak to someone. You do not have to suffer this alone.

Living with substance misuse.

There can be many reasons why someone misuses substances, to block out pain, to cope, to escape. Recognising that it is taking over your life though is the first step to taking back control.

Any addiction can be a challenge to overcome and I commend your courage for taking the first step on that road to recovery.

Manager C.O.P.E .
