Sometime life can be very challenging and it is not uncommon for people to have thoughts of suicide.

However, you need to talk to someone about why you want to die and if you are reading this because you are thinking of suicide then that suggests there is a part of you no matter how small that wants to live.

By talking to someone you can share your reasons for dying and in doing this find your reasons for living.

You need to keep yourself safe at this time and if you have a plan to kill yourself then try and find a way to disable that plan, if it is tablets give them to someone else to look after if you have no one close that you can share this with speak to your local pharmacist and for essential medication see your GP about being given smaller prescriptions.

Drinking or taking drugs at this time is very dangerous as it can increase the chance of you acting on suicidal thoughts so please do not think that will help the problem it will only make you feel worse.

You may feel very alone and that there is no way out of this situation.

There is help out there it is just maybe getting a bit of support to link into it. We know people from all over the world can access this website and sadly we cannot offer a service everywhere even though we would wish to. So please contact someone now.

The numbers I have given are for Glasgow but if you contact your directory of enquiries they will give you helpline numbers in your area.

Scotland is committed to reducing the incidence of suicide, people do care.

There are Applied Suicide Intervention Workshops going on all over the country where people are learning to use the Suicide Intervention Model, they attend the workshops because they care and they want to be there for people who are feeling so despairing that they are thinking of killing themselves.

The Scottish Government have a programme aimed at reducing the incidence of suicide called Choose Life which has supported a variety of initiatives.

Thank you for reading this and please if you are having thoughts of suicide then talk to someone.

Death is a permanent solution to what may be a short term problem. I appreciate you may have tried to get help and it didn’t work, or you feel that there is nothing that can be done. The decision to kill yourself is always there and if you really want to no power in the universe can stop you, but for now why not choose to live and find someone to talk to and keep looking there are people out there who care.

I genuinely wish you well, there is help sometimes it can be a challenge finding it but keep looking you have value and worth and from the beginning till the end of time there will only ever be one you so please care of the unique person you are.
